Hi, my name is Colin and I’m going to be moving into a new home with my first garden sometime over the summer, with my one year old border terrier Megan trying her best to distract me! I’m already excited and I’m making preperations right now to begin my organic vegetable production, this blog is my way of sharing this journey.
I’ll start building up the bare bones of this site over the next week or so and if anyone has any tips I’ll be grateful as I am new to blogging and have no idea what I’m doing with wordpress.

Hi Colin
Exciting news. New home, first garden and a new blog. That should keep you busy over the next few months.
Have you seen your new garden yet? Are you able to start planing what your going to grow in your garden.
We also recently started a blog about our allotment and are pretty much first timers when it comes to growing veg totally organically and wordpress. Im finding other allotment blogs/forums are great for getting tips and info. Good to have another one to check out, doesn’t look like you need any tips on wordpress your blog is fab!
All the best with your new home, garden and blog.
Best wishes to you and Meg.
Beener.

Hi Beener!
I’ve had the opportunity the see the new garden for about 10 years now as I’m going to buy my parents house from them when they downsize. I’ve warned them that the garden won’t wait until they can move out since I refuse to miss the summer growing season this year.
The site is lovely, south facing and sheltered by local hills. Its also on the route of the local riding club so plenty of free manure if I chase them with a bucket and spade. I havent got the tapemeasure out yet but I’d estimate the back garden is about 60 sq metres plus patio and conservatory (greenhouse now but haven’t told my mam that yet!). Unfortunately there is an old workshop taking up valuable space but I’ll end up putting veg in the front garden before I think about digging that out.
I’m planning on making two raised beds of 1×3m each this season. As soon as my beds arrive I’ll make a post along with some photos. I’ve already gone mad with the seed catalogue and ordered far more than I’ll have space for. The mix included lots of baby veg as I originally planned to grow container veg in the yard of my current home. I’ve ordered Kohl Rabi, cut and come again Saladini Mix, Pepper, Bush Tomato, aubergine, beetroot, carrot, courgette, onion, leek, sweetcorn, turnip, cauliflower and parsnip.
I’m starting to find my way around wordpress now. There is alot to learn but a few clicks can get you a fab looking blog.

Sounds like a great garden. Aubergine, I never thought about growing them. Have you grown them before? Love the idea of the conservatory come greenhouse.
Look forward to your photos.
